nami island

instead of working a typical 5 day work week this week, i had to work a 6. my kids are graduating kindergarten so we took a field trip. i dragged dave along (unpaid) with me. we went to nami island. more like crapi island. it was balls and cold. and i now have a raging head cold and unfond memories of said trip. first, it took forever to get there-about an hour and a half. second, it was cold. third, it was balls. to be fair, the last time i was that close to an ostrich, i was slinging drinks in earls lounge. i definitely prefer live ostriches to dead ones adorning a wall.

one of my kids tom, particularly loved chasing the free range fowl lurking around nami island. poor things. they'll probably die of heart attacks sooner or later.

everybody knows i can't resist a big black cock. surprisingly, neither can dave:

dave missing the japanese maple of canada:

all in all. dave and i gave our visit to nami island a disappointing 3/10. highlights include leaving and sleeping on the train back.

dave and i look forward to next week: paycheques and a weekend to ourselves. convieniently it is also valentine's day next week. what better way to say i love you than for dave to shower me with valentine's gifts bought with his first paycheque! we will probably head down to seoul, yet again, and indulge in some delicious tacos (scrumptiously authentic at a place called dos tacos) and shopping.

dave and i have come across the korean way of saying "no". (dave more than i). koreans tend to make a an 'x' with their arms and shake their heads and say "ex-uh". really quite funny to see. for example:

dave: do you have this in a bigger size?
korean: ex-uh (makes x symbol and shakes their head)
dave: (walks away in disappointment yet again)

if you haven't been watching flight of the conchords, i highly highly recommend you start. episode two, season two is pure genious and hilarity mixed. you will not regret it. i miss tv so much that i spent 5 minutes watching house in a convienience store near our apartment the other day. i don't even like house. our alien registration card should be coming to us within the next few weeks so we will then become privy to all the luxuries like tv and internet in the comfort of our own home. can't wait!!

we have been eating bbq a lot lately. a typical meal looks like this:

so fresh and delicious!

we are now going to enjoy what's left of our short weekend. i guess it makes up for having that 4-day weekend a couple of weeks ago.

that's all for now.

you know you love me.

xoxo

  1. korean bbq looks colorful! Question: do you get to use a knife for the big pieces of meat, or do you still have to use chopsticks and just naw at it.

they use scissors for all their meal-cutting needs.
Ive only seen knives used during food preperation and cutting baguettes. Besides that it's meaty scissors.mmmmmm
