nha trang

i am getting so lazy i can barely find it in myself to blog. besides. we don't even post pictures, how do you people possibly find this interesting??

anyway. after an 10 hour ride on a "sleeper bus" from saigon, we are now in nha trang. first, a sleeper bus is a pimped bus with beds. greyhound could make some serious money if they made the dive. unfortunately, dave and i were situated in the very back--with three beds side by side. which wasn't really so bad for me, because dave was in the middle. a vietnamese man had the immense pleasure of sleeping beside dave and his massive legs. a woman had been originally been seated there, but when she realized the sleeping arrangements, we're pretty sure she put up a huff so she could be somewhere else.

we arrived in nha trang without a hitch. i successfully avoided using the on bus toilet the entire way. as you know, i have a huge issue with public toilets. really, a losing battle ever since i arrived in se asia. some of them you have to pay to use! pay! cents only. but still. paying to use a bathroom that is dirtier than stalls of the sutherland after ladies night is the last thing i want to do.

back on track. nha trang is pretty gorgeous. kind of like a vietnamese palm springs. we arrived pretty early-- 6am and quickly found a place to sleep. we hit the beach as soon as we got up and it was quite lovely. cushioned lounge chairs under a straw umbrella and beer and wine service. we read for hours before retiring to the refreshing cool of our air conditioned room. the food here is amazing and so cheap! delightful really. although my intestines have been being less than cooperative.

today we rented a scooter and cruised around town for a bit. tonight we will take another sleeper bus to hoi an. 12 hours. thank god for immodium.

xoxo shanna
